ACB partners NSO on corruption case recording

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Statistical Office (NSO) to uphold evidence-based research on matters of corruption.

Speaking during the signing ceremony that took place in Blantyre, ACB Director General Martha Chizuma said the agreement is a landmark in the fight against corruption.

“The arrangement is a huge step towards generation of correct data that will help us to come up with the right intervention in the fight against corruption,” Said Chizuma.

On her part, NSO Commissioner of Statistics Mercy Kanyuka said they will integrate their resources to carry out studies on corruption.

“The signing cements our working relationship with ACB and it will assist in assessing public institutions through surveys on corruption,” Kanyuka  said.

Previously, NSO conducted an integrity study on Road Traffic and Immigration departments.

The 5 year MoU seeks to develop research tools that will measure and share knowledge on corruption in Malawi.
