Nancy Chumwachawo, Mana, Ntcheu. Minister of Health, Khumbize Chiponda on Thursday said the Ministry has finalised talks with its bilateral partners to assist in making the AstraZeneca vaccine available in the country.
After the talks it has been agreed that 200,000 doses of the vaccine will jet into the country by first week of July.
She disclosed this when she presided over the symbolic handover of protective personal equipment (PPE) by Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN) in Ntcheu to selected hospitals in the country.
Chiponda said the vaccine which has been exhausted in most hospitals would be made available by early July; therefore everyone was encouraged to go to their nearest health facility to access the vaccine.
She said her Ministry would intensify sensitization on the benefits of getting the vaccine, especially in the rural areas.
