Blue Eagles dares Mafco in league opener

Blue Eagles Football Club says it is not undermining Mafco Football Club as the two teams meet in 2022 TNM Super League season game week one day two at Chitowe Stadium.

The Eagles commence the new season with a changed squad having lopped in new faces in the name of goalkeepers Brighton Muntali and Chakonda Majanga, defenders Sankhani Mkandawire, Andrew Juvinala, MacDonald Lameck, and Gustav Maxwell, midfielders Ben Manyozo, Laurent Banda, and Schumacher Kuwali, and striker Chikondi Mvula.

The Eagles also sacked head coach Gerrard Phiri Snr and brought in Eliya Kananji.

Blue Eagles assistant coach Christopher Sibale told Nthanda Times in an interview that his charges are not undermining the Salima-based soldiers despite making changes to their squad.

“Mafco is a good side, and we cannot underrate them. Always when we meet, becomes a very big and tough game. We just want to approach it carefully so that at the end of the day we should who is better to carry the day,” said Sibale.

Sibale also said the team’s executive has given the coaching panel a target but kept a tight lid on the target.

Last season, the two teams drew 1-1 at Nankhaka stadium and the Eagles defeated Mafco at Chitowe stadium in the second round.

The Area 30 giants endured a season to forget last season having finished on position 12 with 32 points, only to be saved by a better goal difference.
