CEPA organizes plastics only clean-up in Blantyre
Communications Officer for Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA), Claire Nkowansenga has organized a 1 plastic only clean-up exercise in Blantyre on Friday as part of the ‘It’s my city, my space,’ initiative.
In an interview with the Malawi News Agency (Mana)on Thursday in Blantyre, she said they intend to go in two groups whereby the first group would go to Kachere Market while the second group will go to ADMARC Roundabout for the clean-up.
“CEPA is taking lead in the 1 plastics only clean-up day in Blantyre as a part of its beat plastic pollution campaign that is part of their advocacy for a clean and safe environment.
“The aim of the campaign is to engage plastic producing companies to work with us to end this environmental problem,” Nkowansenga said.
The Officer said the event would start at 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
She encouraged Blantyre residents to join the campaign and do their part to keep the city safe from plastic pollution.
CEPA is a non-profit making non-governmental organization registered as a company limited by guarantee in 2002. It seeks to contribute to the development of environment and natural resources management best practices in Malawi and the Southern African region.
