CFT bays for Chilima's blood

The Citizens for Transformation (CFT), a political grouping has called on State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima to respect the law and step aside to let Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigate him over his alleged involvement in corruption with businessman Zunnet Sattar.

CFT Secretary General Chimwemwe Maunde said this Thursday afternoon in Lilongwe during a media briefing.

According to Maunde, CFT wants everyone allegedly involved in the Zunneth Sattar corruption to be investigated regardless of their position and face the law

Maunde has also asked ACB Director General to focus on past corruption cases and not just the recent ones.
"Much as they are doing well in fighting corruption, we still feel ACB is only excited with current cases only, forgetting old ones whose files are gathering dust," lamented Maunde.

The grouping is also calling on ACB to conduct a periodic lifestyle audit if the battle against corruption is indeed to be won.

She has condemned other Malawians whom she says are aiding corruption by demanding so much from political leaders.

Meanwhile, the grouping has commended President Lazarus Chakwera saying he is doing well in fighting corruption in the country.

The movement also wants the ACB to conduct a lifestyle audit as many Malawians are living beyond their means, leading flamboyant lifestyles that do not match their known income, an indication that they are involved in dirty deals.

On funding of the ACB, the movement has challenged the government to increase the allocation to enable the graft fighting body to work effectively.
