President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says he is encouraged by the progress made at the newly established Presidential Delivery Unit Labs.
Dr Chakwera was speaking in Lilongwe after visiting the delivery labs currently stationed at Bingu International Conventional Centre (BICC) to appreciate what the labs are doing to help achieve a new Malawi.
Presidential Delivery Units and Labs were established recently as a monitoring mechanism of the government’s campaign promises.
Accompanied by the first lady Madam Monica Chakwera, the President said so far he is pleased with the progress, adding that Malawi would have achieved a lot in terms of development if this model was adopted years back.
“ I am encouraged with what I have seen, it is encouraging to see ministries and departments working collectively to achieve a common goal,” Dr Chakwera said.
Among the labs visited include human capital which comprises the Ministry of Health, Education and Agro-Industry that covers three ministries of Trade, Industry and Agriculture.
The initiative was created to provide space for monitoring and follow-ups on how Ministries, Departments and Government Agencies (MDAs) are implementing programmes aimed at fulfilling election promises.
