Chilima presides over TNM Mudzi Wathu Initiative launch

Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima has stressed the need for government and private sector to work together in improving the lives of Malawians.

Chilima, was speaking in Dowa when he presided over the launch of TNM Mudzi Wathu Initiative which is being implemented by one of the country’s mobile network service providers, TNM.

In the initiative, TNM will be using one percent of its users airtime proceeds and invest it into development activities in their respective localities.

Said Chilima: “Let us support TNM in all its initiatives so that it should give back to the communities.”
TNM Chief Executive Officer Arnold Mbwana said through the initiative communities across the country will be provided with various projects according to their wish.

He said TNM is committed to empowering Malawians through various interventions.

Mbwana then said TNM want to take a new approach on the issue of corporate social responsibility by working hand in hand with Government which has already shown commitment to improving the lives of Malawians.

He said through TNM Mudzi Wathu TNM will also be providing affordable phones to communities across the country as well empowering the youth through businesses.

“As TNM we will be giving back to the people, by providing them with business opportunities,” Mbwana said.
From January to June 2021, TNM has employed over 20,000 people.

Present at the event was the Deputy Minister of Local Government Halima Daudi, Minister Homeland Security Richard Chimwendo Banda, all Parliamentarians from Dowa and other Government officials.
