Citizen's response to poverty elimination essay writing competition organisers to award winners

Chiwosi Consultancy Firm (CCF) in collaboration with Ambassadors of Charity Trust (ACT) will in May this year award winners for citizen’s response to poverty elimination essay writing competition which was conducted from July to August 2021.

CCF and ACT facilitated the competition where over twenty people participated.

CCF Director Blessings Chiwosi told Nthanda Times in an interview that he is satisfied with the participation saying the aim of the competition has been achieved as participants gave the practical ideas that can help to achieve the Malawi 2063 vision.

“The essays that were received clearly talked about the practical ideas on how we actualize vision 2063 in terms of industrialization, agriculture commercialization, job creation and many other issues on SDGs concerning environmental health and gender based violence.

"We are prepared for the day as the judges are finalizing the marking and selection of the three winners but still the others will also be given an appreciation of their contribution to the agenda” said Chiwosi.

Chiwosi added that, all the ideas and views the participants presented in essays will be incorporated in the book.

He went on to urge the well-wishers to support them as they are falling shot on the budget.

"There is a book that has been written incorporating all the views that the youths gave.It is almost done as the 1ers are editing and about to 1.

"We are still falling short on the budget and we are calling for all the sponsors to come in and they can sponsor with venue, finances, t-shirts and even the banners that can beautify the event," he urged.

On his part, one of the competitors Precious Amadi said: ”I feel like I am among the winners and my essay can be of great importance towards the actualization of vision 2063 if the ideas in it get adopted by relevant authorities.

"Competitions like this are of great importance as they encourage critical thinking and research among people and on the other hand the competition leads to progress for it is only when you compete either with yourself for any other person you realize your shortfalls and strive for perfection”.

The competition was organized on the theme of citizen’s response to poverty elimination aimed at exploring the ways that Malawi as a nation and its citizens can take to help actualize the Malawi vision 2063.

Citizen’s response to poverty elimination essay writing competition targeted youths from 15 to 35 years old across Malawi and is part of the CCF and ACT objective that is to bring a wake up alarm to all the citizens in the country that they have a potential as individuals to bring change.
