A local NGO, Creative Centre for Community Mobilization (CRECCOM) that has been in existence since 1999 is to launch its 20-year vision.
The board chairperson for CRECCOM, Dr. Benjamin Kaneka said that the organization is going to launch its 2040-year vision and Crecomex on 11 November 2021 in Zomba.
Kaneka said that the 20-year vision has clearly elaborated how the organization will remain relevant and responsive in the changing world.
“There are many emergent issues like COVID-19 that have risen and have affected the way different activities are being implemented in our society,” said Kaneka.
Agreeing with Kaneka, the Executive Director for CRECCOM, Madalo Samati, said that the 2040 vision has been linked with the Malawi 2063 agenda because is in line with their Social Mobilization Campaign Model. “Our aim is to help people to be self-motivated which is in line with the 2063 vision,” said Samati.
Ms Samati said that the social enterprise of CRECCOM is named Crecomex and will assist the organization financially.
“Crecomex is using the ‘fee for service’ business model and will purposely be generating income for CRECCOM for its social cause. The resources will supplement the donor aid the organization gets for various development initiatives. Again, when donor funds are scarce; CRECCOM will continue to deliver its core mandate using resources generated through Crecomex,” Samati stated.
Samati said that Crecomex has four subsidiaries; the car hire, conference centre, real estate management, and consultancy.
Adding to what Samati said, Dr. Kaneka said that Crecomex will be working with the government and donors in supporting different development activities in disadvantaged rural areas.
