Dedza Youth Football Bonanza Masters back with under 14 bonanza

After successfully hosting Under 17 as well as the controversial ending Under 20 bonanzas, football lovers in Dedza District will be back in terraces as organizers of these Bonanzas are back in business.

The group which has individuals from various Youth teams in Dedza District as well as football fanatics have decided to come up with another Bonanza targeting the Under 14 teams.

Unlike the previous bonanzas where teams were asked to pay affiliation fee to take part in the bonanza, teams will participate without paying.

The organizing group led by Dedza Soccer Saints Chair Roy Singano, has also Brian Chitekwere of Chipatala, Jean Machemba of Soccer City, Steven Msakakuona from Dedza Eagles as well as Elia Ngondo and the current General Secretary of Dedza District Youth Football Crink Mahilas. It is believed that these individuals have contributed a minimum of K10 000 each for the Bonanza.

In an interview, Elia Ngondo the group's spokesperson confirmed the development.

According to Ngondo, the bonanza was rescheduled due to Covid-19 pandemic.

“We had contemplated to have this Bonanza before but Coronavirus halted this ambition. So, as we have heard from the authority that some top leagues will be resuming soon and looking at the current status of Corona virus cases, we have decided to have this Bonanza as the curtain raiser for the forthcoming season of Dedza Mpira M'mudzi Under 14," Ngondo explained.

The bonanza will take place on the weekend of 10th, 11th April 2021 at Umbwi ground. Teams which are ready to take part are asked to send their lads on Monday 5th April 2021 for age vetting.

Champions will get K15 000 while the second, third teams will K12 000 and K10 000 respectively. On the fourth position, will get K8 000.

On individual awards, player of the tournament will K3 000 while best goalkeeper, defender as well as top goal scorer will get K2 000 each. Crink Mahilas will head the vetting team. This team has also big names of Elia Ngondo and Melvin Kalifumbi. The same team will also be in charge of selecting individual performers.

The group’s chairperson Roy Singano said doors are open for well-wishers to sponsor the bonanza.

“Currently we have started with K70 000 which has come through the contributions from the organizers but if one is willing to assist can come in and help us so that we can pump up the prizes of the teams," said Singano.

The Bonanza will attract all teams which took part in last seasons Under 14 league as well as those which wants to join this season from the District.
