The Dowa First Grade Magistrate’s Court sitting at Msongandeu Court on Thursday, June 24 2021 convicted and sentenced a 28-year-old driver, Halord Kadzola, to pay a fine of K400,000.00 or in default serve 8 months imprisonment with hard labour for committing traffic offences.
The court through state prosecutor Sub Inspector Benedict Mathambo heard that the driver, Halord Kadzola, committed four traffic offences of driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence, driving a motor vehicle without a policy of insurance, operating a motor vehicle without a certificate of fitness and operating a motor vehicle without road service permit.
Appearing before court, the driver pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted accordingly.
In his ruling, First Grade Magistrate Amran Phiri concurred with the state’s submission for a stiff punishment to send as a warning to other would-be offenders hence sentenced him to pay a fine of K400,000.00 or in default serve 8 months imprisonment with hard labour for the four counts leveled against him.
Halord Kadzola comes from Chiponda Village in Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa District
