The Blantyre District Youth Football First Capital Bank (FCB) under 20 league will kick off on Saturday with a website through which people will be following live updates.
Speaking to Nthanda Time Blantyre, FCB under 20 Committee Chairperson Bitto Kayesera said the development has come at a right time when there is a restriction of public gatherings due to the covid-19 pandemic.
According to Kayesera, the website will help people follow proceedings of games in the league while at home.
“We are proud that we are the first district to have this development in the history of youth football in Malawi. This will assist a lot of people to have access to follow the Blantyre District FCB under 20 league live from their homes during this time of covid-19 pandemic,” said Kayesera.
Kayesera also told Nthanda Times that the league will observe Covid-19 preventive measures at stadiums.

“As you know that the league has come at a time when Covid-19 is a problem, therefore those that will want to come to watch the matches live other than following on our website, they are advised to come while wearing masks and observes social distance in stadiums,” added Kayesera.
On age cheating which has been a problem in the league, Kayesera assured football fans that everything has been done to reduce age cheating.
“We have gathered information from relatives and other useful data for all the players from the teams who are taking part in the league and we are really sure that their ages are below 20 according to the criteria we have used,” concluded Kayesera.
The Blantyre District Youth Football First Capital Bank (FCB) under 20 which has 16 teams will start on Saturday June 12, 2021 with Ntopwa fc playing against Mighty Wanderers Reserve at Kamuzu stadium at 8 am, Izo-Izo Warriors will play Blantyre United at Blantyre Youth Center at 8am and this game will be followed by Soche Madrid versus Ngaliba FC while Manchester Motors Spares will play against Griffin Young Stars at the same venue.
