Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Chirwa has granted bail to former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dr. Dalitso Kabambe and three others who are accused of abuse of office.
The four were arrested in connection with dubious money transfers while working at RBM.
The court has ordered the four to pay a cash bond of K5 million each and surrender all their travel documents. They have also been ordered to seek permission from the court each time they want to leave the city.
The court has also rejected an application by the defence team to reduce the bail bond to at least K1 million for each of the suspects.
The former Governor of the Central Bank together with three others are facing charges relating to abuse of office and money laundering.
After bein granted the bail, Kabambe who is opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Presidential hopeful addressed people who gathered at Area 3 Market in Lilongwe.
