Lawyer Kita donates MK2 million for Banda's medical attention

Malawi’s renowned legal practitioner Wapota Kita has stepped in to help the country’s music heavy weights Sir Paul Banda and his brother Soldier Lucius Banda get medical attention by donating MK2 million.

Lucius Banda revealed to the public that alongside his brothers (Francis and Paul) are going through health challenges and need public intervention to access medical attention abroad.

Writing on his Official Facebook page, Kita said Lucius Banda once offered a kind gesture in 2012 when he (Kita) was pioneering a local NGO called YADEMA.

“He (Lucius) offered to perform a show for free for YADEMA at the then Mungo Park, all proceeds were to go to the activities of YADEMA because he believed in our cause for a just society. Indeed, the show happened and we were allowed to keep all the gate collections. That was the selfless Lucious Banda,” said Kita.

According to Kita, Lucius Banda needs to be paid of his kindness at the time he needs people’s help.

“And now when he is going through this trying time, I have no option but to pay back for what he did to us in those days when we couldn’t afford anything. A MK2 million soldier from me to push you through your medical bills,” said Kita.

Kita has since promised to get in touch with Lulu to get the said amount.

Different quarters continue to give their hand towards helping the Banda brothers access medical attention abroad.

Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima on Saturday joined Malawians of goodwill in Lilongwe in activities aimed at raising funds for renowned musician Lucius Banda.
