Renowned Malawian R&B artist Lulu has disclosed that he will lead Zembani Band in fundraising shows for the band’s founder Lucius Banda who alongside his two brothers (Paul and Francis) are sick.
Lucius Banda told local media that he has been receiving dialysis treatment for kidney failure at Mwaiwathu hospital, Kamuzu Central hospital and South Africa, while his brother Sir Paul Banda has been receiving the same treatment at Mwaiwathu hospital.
Lucius Banda also disclosed that his brother Francis is having leukaemia condition and asked for help from well-wishers.
Writing on his official Facebook Page, Lulu, real name Lawrence Khwisa his intentions to lead Zembani Band to fundraise for Banda’s medication.
Lulu described Lucius Banda as a mentor, father and master.
“Now that this mentor, friend of mine, father of the industry in Malawi, my bandmate is unwell, he can't do what he loves most as of now, he needs our support and indeed everyone's. I have therefore, decided to take my other band, Zembani. I will lead it for Fundraising Shows in days so near and details will be shared soon enough,” wrote Lulu.
The Tsogolo langa hit maker who is also a product of Zembani band said he will be performing both his and Lucius Banda's songs.
Lulu who has worked with Lucius Banda for over 12 years has appealed to well-wishers to intervene.
Recently, a group of concerned musicians led by Charles Sinitre organized a fundraising show in Blantyre where they were expected to raise about MK30 million to fly Sir Paul Banda abroad for medical attention.
