As the country continues experiencing rising numbers of Covid-19 new cases, Ministry of Health has announced that the country has registered highest number of new cases since March this year.
Minister of Health who is also Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 Co-Chairperson Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda announced that the country has today registered 512 new Covid-19 confirmed cases.
“We are still registering an increase in the number of new confirmed cases, admissions and deaths, and today we have recorded the highest number of new cases (512) since March 2021,” said Chiponda.
Chiponda has meanwhile called for a consented effort to reduce transmission of the virus.
“We are at a critical point whereby we really need to reduce and stop the futher spread of Covid-19 in our country. At this point, I would like to ask everyone to play their role as we fight to reduce the transmission of Covid-19; everyone has to be involved by adhering to the preventive and containment measures,” said Chiponda.
Chiponda also said there is a need to identify by testing individuals that have the disease, and isolate them while giving them appropriate care depending on the severity of the disease.
Meanwhile, the Minister has assured Malawians that the country will receive 192, 000 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine on Thursday next week to help in the fight against the pandemic.
Statistics from the Ministry of Health has shown that 81.2% of the new infections are from people who are yet to get their jab.
As of July 10, 2021, there are 3, 634 active cases of Covid-19.
