“I and Martse are working on a new EP titled Tseketseke which is expected to be out on 30 July 2021. The song is a love song and it is talking more about a woman who is in a new relationship and she thinks that all men who she dated before had fake love and were just wasting her time hence she is feeling sweet (Tseketseke) with the new lover,” said Mikana.
Mikana promised her music followers and fans good music this year saying the EP is just the beginning of what all she has prepared for them.
“This EP is just the beginning of my interesting projects this year. My music should definitely expect more nice music from me and more amazing collaborations. Am also thinking of dropping w new album early next year,” she promised.
Commenting on how COVID-19 has affected music industry in Malawi and beyond, Mikana said things are now tough in the music industry following some preventative measures that the governments have put in place including the ban of music live shows and music concerts.
“It is very shame that the COVID-19 has affected everything in the world and not only music industry. For the music industry, it is very tough as most of the artists depend on live shows that governments have banned to make their daily living. They cannot survive on just selling their music in markets as you are aware that with the technology people are now accessing songs via free downloads, it is hard,” said Mikana.
Mikana started singing while she was young. She used to sing in church services with her mother and fully entered into music industry in 2019.
She is a well-known afrobeat artist by her songs Ndinayiwala, my number one, Usapite and Ndekha which she featured Mwanache and Joe Kells.
The new EP ‘Tseketseke’ is being produced by Pon G in Blantyre and D win in Lilongwe.
