Ministry of tourism commends Mikozi network for promoting arts industry

The Ministry of Tourism has commended the Mikozi network for introducing an online talent search for Malawian artists.

Mikozi studio live, an online entertainment platform in collaboration with Premier bet, has introduced an online talent search to create a platform for new and upcoming artists in a bid to unearth hidden talent in the country.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana) in Lilongwe Wednesday,  Executive Producer at Mikozi Network, Precious Kainga said that they thought it wise to introduce an inclusive programme to support the less popular but talented artists in the country.

“Mikozi decided to include the less popular but talented artists to benefit from the network and not only the famous artists as it was during the times of COVID-19.  That is why we introduced this programme but we are looking for unique talents.”

“This will not be the only programme and we will be bringing more of this nature once we secure more funds from sponsors. We want to not only benefit this generation but also the next and we commend Premier Bet for all their support,” he added.

Kainga: this has been introduced to promote less popular talents

Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Tourism, Symon Mvundula has commended the initiative and calls for more institutions and the corporate world to utilize the local talents.

“We always look forward to such initiatives where companies or individuals motivate and improve the welfare of artists. Part of our main objective as the government is to ensure that creativity is being taken to another level through such initiatives,”

“To the promoters, this is a good initiative; it is high time as a nation we realize that artists play a very big role in communicating important information and entertaining the market. What Mikozi is doing is welcome and we are looking forward to them doing more going forward, but so far so good and we thank them for that,” he added.

One of the upcoming artists, Innocent Kassim also known as Angel Malawi said he was ready for the competition and he has since advised his fellow artists to work hard and utilize the opportunity given by Mikozi.

Talented Malawians in all fields whether music, dancing, drawing, or magic can join by uploading a 1 minute to 3-minute video on any social media platform of them showcasing their talent (without studio effects), adding hashtag #PremierBetMikozi and tagging Premier Bet Malawi

From the first 100 submissions, 50 submissions will stand a chance of winning a grand prize of MK2 million.
