MUST to reopen on March 29 with 'No fees no registration' policy

The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) has announced that the reopening of the 2021/22 academic year for continuing students is March 29, 2022.

The school was temporarily closed on 16 February 2022 following an illegal students protest which disrupted examinations at the institution.

Through a letter dated March 7, 2022, the school's management has agreed to reopen the institution with some conditions.

"The Malawi University of Science and Technology, during its executive management meeting on March 01, 2022 agreed to reopen the University on March 29, 2022 with some conditions," reads part of the letter.

MUST students to face 'no fees no registration' policy when the school reopens

The conditions highlighted in the letter include; strict observance of 'No Fees, No Registration” policy; where only eligible students who would have cleared their fees balances and formalised their registration by this time will be allowed to sit for the examinations.

The letter further states that students without fees balance are expected to arrive on campus Saturday, March 26, 2022 to write end of semester examinations which will be administered from March 29 to April 11 2022.

The 2022/23 academic year will commence on June 6, 2022 with first year students to arrive on campus on June 5 for orientation which will end on June 10, 2022 while continuing students are expected to arrive on campus on 12 June 2022 as classes will commence on 13 June 2022.
