Nkhata Bay Market opens (GALLERY)

Deputy Minister of Local Government Halima Daudi Officially opened the newly constructed Nkhata Bay Central Market on Thursday 16th September.

NkhataBay Central Market has been constructed under the project called More Income and Employment in Rural Areas (MIERA) funded by the German Government through KFW Bank. It is a 10 million Euro cooperation programme and Malawi Government committed MK200 million towards the project as it’s commitment.

Other Markets under MIERA project are Lunzu in Blantyre, Sadzi in Zomba, Goliati in Thyolo, Neno, Dyeratu in Chikwawa, Chinkhoma in Kasungu, and Embangweni in Mzimba.

Malawi News Agency Photojournalist Gracian Jeke captured the event during the official opening.

Nkhatabay Central Market construction has cost about Mk 329 million.
