Police, communities bang heads on security in Mulanje
Police and communities at Mimosa area

Police in Mulanje on Thursday interfaced communities around Mimosa in Traditional Authority Sunganinzeru on safety and security issues in the area.  


Mulanje Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Gresham Ngwira described the meeting which was held at Mimosa community ground as fruitful saying both community members and the law enforcers shared way of bringing sanity in the area.


Station Officer for Police in the district Leonard Chipa said coordination between police and communities members is very important for security of any area adding that people who are engaged in criminal acts live in communities.


“Chipa then assured people that Police is committed to ensure safety and security but hinted that people should share information on what is happening in their areas.


"If we work together, our areas will be safe and secure thereby leading to development.

Stop conniving with criminals and instead, help us deal with crime," he said.

Group Village headman Duswa said the responsibility of bringing safety and security cannot be put in the hands of police alone observing that nowadays criminals have become sophisticated hence the need for joint efforts in defeating them.


During the meeting, Chairperson for Mimosa Community Policing Forum (CPF), Erick Chikapa promised to continue working hard for the better of the area.


He hailed the meeting saying it ignited more energy in enhancing security in the area.


The meeting was, among others, attended by chiefs, business gurus and community policing groups.
