Sexual reproductive health project excites community members
Village Head Sam in the area of Traditional Authority Mwilang’ombe has commended Karonga Debate Club (KADEC) for implementing a sexual reproductive health and rights project in the district saying it has enabled girls to protect themselves from early marriages and pregnancies.
In an interview with Nthanda Times, he described the project to be very helpful to both girls and young women in the district.
“The project has helped us so much in this district as most women and girls are now able to protect their reproductive health and cases of teen pregnancies and early marriages have gone down,” he said.
Chairperson for the club in Kaswera, Belekete Harawa told Nthanda Times that Kadec has been an eye-opener.
“Kadec has opened our eyes that we have to protect the sexual reproductive health of our children and educate them on the impacts of teen marriages and pregnancies,” he said.
He has since pointed out that the project has helped children to concentrate on education and plan better for their future.
On her part, project officer for Kadec, Queenith Kaponda, said the project was necessary for the country's development and has since said there is need for collaborated efforts to help in the fight against gender based violence.
