Two men drown in a dam in Mzimba

Mzimba, October 18, Mana: Two men, Waive Tembo Junior aged 23,and 31-year-old David Moyo have died after drowning in Kapalankhwali dam at Embangweni in Mzimba district on Sunday.

Mzimba police deputy spokesperson, Sub Inspector John Nyirongo said that Junior went to the dam to wash the family car, and later he decided to have a swim in the same dam. 

He said Tembo went into deep waters before he drowned. 

“Some people who saw him drowning shouted for help. Well-wishers including David Moyo dived into the water to rescue Tembo. On a sad note Moyo too got drowned,” Nyirongo explained. 

He said: “The Police accompanied by medical personnel visited the scene. The bodies of the two were retrieved from the dam later at night.”

Nyirongo said post-mortem results revealed that the two died due to suffocation secondary to drowning.

Waive Tembo Junior hailed from Kolovati village while David Moyo hailed from Robert Mwanda village both in TA Mzukuzuku in the district.
