State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima is set to participate in the ‘Kuyipatsa Moto Flames’ fundraising golf tournament which will take place at Lilongwe golf club on October 2 this year.
The fundraising tournament has been organized by the Flames Resource Mobilisation Taskforce with an aim to source funds for Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations finals slated for Yaunde, Cameroon.
In an interview, the committee’s spokesperson Tulipo Mwenelupembe said about 100 golfers are expected to participate in the tournament.
According to Mwenelupembe, the committee is also engaging other corporates for partnership.
“The golfers will play in a team of two sponsored by corporates or individuals at a sponsorship fee of MK300, 000 per team. We are also engaging various corporates to partner us by buying some of our sponsorship packages,” said Mwenelupembe, who is FAM’s Marketing and Broadcasting Manager.
To enable FAM partners to exploit advertising collateral through advertising, Mwenelupembe said the event will be broadcast live on Mibawa TV and FAM Facebook page.
“The ‘Kuyipatsa Moto Flames Fundraising VVIP Golf tournament’ will be the first-ever fundraising golf tournament in Malawi to be broadcast live on national TV. The partnership between us, the football fraternity, and the golfing fraternity has shown that through collaboration we can achieve great things,” he said.
The task force, which is led by FAM’s first Vice President Justice Jabbar Alide, has lined up several activities in between now and December before the team leaves for Cameroon.
On 29th October, the committee will host Kuipatsa Moto Flames VVIP Dinner in Lilongwe and has extended invitation to the State President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to grace this event.
Flames needs about K1.493 billion to prepare for the AFCON finals.
