Violence perpetrator arrested

A 38 years old man is in police custody in Ntcheu district for torturing a minor on allegations that he stole irish potatoes.

A video clip has gone viral as the man whips and tortures a little boy.

Confirming the development, Ntcheu Police station Officer-in-Charge, Julius Munthali, says the arrest is in connection with the contents of the clip-gone-viral.

Munthali has identified the man as Vincent Dzimazi of Gochi 2 village, Traditional Authority Mpando in Ntcheu district.

According to Munthali, Dzimazi has been arrested for perpetrating violence on a minor.

“We have arrested Vincent Dzimazi, aged 38, of Gochi 2 village, Traditional Authority Mpando in Ntcheu district. A video clip circulating on social media this morning showed him perpetrating violence on a kid accused of stealing,” said Munthali.

Munthali further said the law enforcers are currently checking up on the condition of the victim and will share more details soon.

Meanwhile, Minister of Homeland and Security Richard Chimwendo Banda has hailed the Police for taking the action.

Writing on his official Facebook account, Chimwendo said Dzimazi will face justice.

“He has been arrested and he will face Justice. I would like to thank those that provided information that led to his arrest,” wrote Chimwendo.
