Mana photojournalist, Gracian Jeke dies 

The media fraternity mourns the demise of Gracian Jeke who until his death, worked as a photojournalist for Malawi News Agency (Mana) in the Ministry of Information and Digitization. 

Jeke died on Thursday night at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after a long battle with cancer.

Regional Information Officer for the north, George Bulombola described Jeke as a hardworking photojournalist, saying his demise was a big setback to the regional information office and the ministry at large.   

“We are greatly shocked and heartbroken by the demise of Gracian. Our prayers are with the bereaved family that God comfort and see them through this trying time.  May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Bulombola said.

Late Jeke, to be laid to rest on Saturday in Mulanje

One of his workmates, Tawonga Moyo said she will always remember Jeke as a cheerful and selfless individual who would offer support to anyone who needed it. 

Meanwhile, the Media Institute of Southern Africa MISA Chairperson Golden Matonga said Misa Malawi is deeply saddened by the death of MANA journalist Gracian Jeke.

He said Jeke will be remembered for his great passion in telling stories using pictures.

Jeke joined the Ministry of Information in 2000 as an assistant audio-visual officer and worked at Mangochi District Information Office for some years before he got posted to the regional information office (north) as a photojournalist.

Born on 29 September 1977, Jeke hailed from Chimbalanga village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Mkanda in Mulanje.

Burial will take place on Saturday in his home village.
